Office Chair Exercise

Have you tried an office chair exercise when you're feeling stressed with a hard day at work?

Are you pressed for time with a busy schedule and some days can't seem to squeeze your exercise for fitness?

If you can take a five minute break, you can do an office chair exercise or two.   Stretching is the easiest for most people, but you'd be surprised at what you can accomplish!

Office Chair Exercise -- For Fitness?

Office Chair Exercises AnywhereYou know that especially over 40, your muscles become cramped sitting in a chair all day.  If you don't find ways to relieve that stress and cramping, you run the risk of ultimately losing flexibility.  An chair exercises may be what you need.

But will you actually get fit exercising in an office chair?  It depends.  There are cardio exercises you can do from a chair, but they are a little difficult for most people to do in an office setting.

Likewise, most office chair exercises are not really for weightloss -- one reason is that it's usually difficult to complete the exercises is office attire.  And most exercises for weightloss requires a stable chair, not one that rolls.

But you can pretty easily strengthen and tone muscles, which will make you look and feel thinner.  Not to mention relieve muscle cramps, stiffness and tension -- excellent reasons for chair exercise!

How to Exercise in Your Office Chair

There are some excellent books on "deskercise" -- the phrase coined for office exercise.  You can try Deskercise: A Revolutionary Exercise Program You Can Do Right At Your Desk! (a paperback book).

Another book you might like to try is Stretching in the Office, also a paperback.  Of course the advantage to a book is that you can take it with you, to review the exercises and stretches.

Meanwhile, here's a short video on office chair stretching I came across that you might enjoy.

Exercise Ball Office Chair

So what exactly is an exercise ball office chair?

Basically, it's a "cradle" (for lack of a better term) that holds the exercise ball in place.

When the ball sits in the cradle, it won't roll around on the floor.  A good thing indeed -- can you see yourself chasing a fitness ball down the aisles?

In any case, if you're able to bring in your own office chair, you might want to check one out.

One thing to note; the exercise ball used in this kind of chair is smaller than the average fitness ball, as the cradle ads height.

Where to find them?  Some fitness stores may carry them, and naturally, you can find them on-line.
