Exercise Ball DVD

An exercise ball DVD is a great way to start a fitness ball workout.  The DVD lets you see the proper form for balance, and how you should do the exercises.

A fitness ball (also called exercise, stability, swiss and pilates ball) workout is great for any level.  Whether you haven't exercised in years to someone who is fit but looking for a new challenge, the exercise ball can meet your needs.

Pick an exercise ball DVD and get ready for some action!

Just Starting Out:  Beginners

As I mentioned on the video page, I feel that the very best beginner video is "Fat-to-Firm FItness Ball Workout for Dummies".

You're led by instructor is Liz Gillies on how to do the routines.  But in the very beginning, you're taught how to actually sit move and balance on the ball -- a little more difficult than it first looks.  It does get easier once you get used to balancing on the ball.

Yes, it's a little on the basic side, but if you have never had any exerience with a fitness ball, you'll be grateful for the tips. In addition, exercise variations are provided for when you are more advanced.

You can get this exercise ball DVD online through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Balance Exercise Ball DVD WomanYou can also check out "On the Ball Pilates Workout for Beginners".  If you've been exposed to yoga and/or pilates and are at least one step up from couch potato, this is a great DVD.

Pilates is a wonderful system of toning your body, making it long and lean.  The exercise ball brings a lot more options, to keep the routines from getting stale.

You can get this DVD online through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Got only 10 minutes and think you can't work out -- think again!  Take a look at "10 Minute Solution: Fitness Ball Workouts". This is more of an advanced beginner to intermediate level, so you should be comfortable moving and exercising on the stability ball.  Although it is a little further along than either of the other two DVDs, it's great to add to your collection -- and you'll be an advanced beginner soon anyway!

You can get this exercise ball DVD online through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Exercise Ball DVD:  Intermediate and Advanced

I'll admit -- I'm not quite to the intermediate/advanced stage of the exercise ball.  But that doesn't mean I don't have some DVDs, waiting for the day I am ready!

Ready for some cardio?  Check out "Cardio Balance Ball". Yes, you can definitely get your heart rate up with this DVD.  Instructor Tanja Djelevic does a good job of getting your heart rate up with interval training. You also get core stability exercises, as well as strength training.  Sometimes you are on the exercise ball, and sometimes you are lifiting it in this fast-paced workout.

"The Method - The Stability Ball Workout" is basically and intermediate-level workout (although advanced beginners can stretch themselves with it).  The instructor is Katalin Zamiar and she leads you through a 50-minute routine.  You'll exercise your legs, rear, abs, core and arms.

You start out with a quick warm-up and end with a cool-down -- something that some videos forget to include!  It's definitely needed here, so for your body's sake, don't skip either one.

"3-D Balance: Ball Pilates Level 3" if you have taken pilates classes, and have worked on an exercise ball, do check out this DVD.  It's not a DVD for you if you have balance issues doing a beginner routine, but it is great if you have a reasonable balance and want to take it to the next level.

If you want to check out some more exercise ball DVD options, take a look at Amazon for more Balance Ball DVDs -- they have a wide array of balance ball routines -- one or more will be right for you!

Where to Find a Fitness Ball?

Just about anywhere!  I've seen them on ebay, in sporting stores, Amazon and even in grocery stores!

If you're not taking a class for balance ball exercises, and don't have someone who can spot you, buy yourself a couple of DVDs or videos to get you started.

Start out slow and work up to a full routine.

It looks so easy but you won't believe the excellent workout you're getting!
